Everyone here at Los TeBros would like to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving! I honestly did not plan on writing anything today, but while watching the Detroit Lions vs. Houston Texans game I really had no choice, but to write about a certain play.

 

 We all know that refereeing games is hard and blown calls will be made, but the Justin Forsett “touchdown” should not have been missed.

First off, Walt Coleman and his crew failed to blow the whistle after Forsett’s elbow and knee clearly touched the ground. Forsett ended up running 60+ plus yards for a “touchdown.” Lions coach Jim Schwartz mistakenly threw the challenge flag onto the field. Due to NFL rules, once Schwartz threw the flag down, it wiped out any chance for the play to be reversed via official review.

Not only was the call missed, Detroit ended up being charged with a 15 yard penalty because of the challenge flag.

I’m not even a Lions fan & I was pretty upset about this.

Watching professional football hasn’t been the same over the past couple of seasons because rules constantly changing. The average football fan can’t even keep up with all of the new rules. So what if Jim Schwartz threw a challenge flag when the call was going to be reviewed anyways? Why is that a penalty? Why does it deserve a 15 yard penalty?

After the “touchdown” was signaled, Schwartz immediately pointed to himself signaling that it was his fault. Who can blame him for throwing a challenge flag? It was an obvious missed call and the people speaking into his ear were probably telling him that Forsett was down. Also, this rule for reviewing every touchdown is fairly new.

Texans fans have definitely found something to be thankful for. Also, props to Justin Forsett for being aware that no whistles were blown and finishing the play.

       It’s been a while, but it’s great to be writing again. Sorry to those who have been waiting for more articles. Thank you for your patience!

       Back to the point at hand, the first Really, Bro? of the 2012 NFL season is dedicated to Joe Levine’s article discussing Pittsburgh Steelers’ Pro Bowl safety Ryan Clark’s “dirty” hit on New York Giants’ receiver Victor Cruz last night. Eli Manning threw a pass intended for Cruz in the endzone which ended up being dropped by Steelers corner back Ike Taylor. Steelers fans’ emotions went from being a little upset by the dropped interception to being happy that they forced the Giants to settle for a field goal and then to being infuriated by an unnecessary roughness penalty called against Clark.

       Remember that GIF is in slow motion. In real time, that was a bang-bang play. I know it looks bad watching in slow motion, but what if the ball somehow got past Taylor? In football, also true in about any sport, a player has to anticipate bad plays like that to occur. Clark is a very intelligent football player and is always where the action is. If you look at the play over, Clark is already anticipating the ball to be in Cruz’s hands as he gets ready to knock the ball loose. He’s not expecting Taylor to “deflect” the pass.

July 22^nd, 2012 is when the 83^rd Major League Baseball All Star Game will be held at Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals. While the first time All Stars to 15 time All Stars receive the honor to represent their respective leagues, the Midsummer Classic is not just another game that will be all fun and games. Yes, these players deserve to enjoy their All Star honors (rightfully so), but what’s at stake will be more important to some than others.

Since the 2003 All Star Game, the winning league receives home field advantage in the World Series. Gaining home field advantage will be very important for any team playing in the World Series, so each league will need to consist of the most deserving players based on this season’s production.

       The last time I checked, mistakes are quite abundant among most people. I don’t think there is any human on this planet that isn’t subject to fallibility. Everyone makes mistakes, no? When you’re at the grocery store and there is a miss-scan on an item, you don’t throw your arms up in disbelief and demand the manager. Well, unless you’re quite particular about your checkout time and a freakin nut. But most of us would just dismiss it and go on about our days and never think about it again. Granted, some mistakes are more heavily weighed than others, and make a much bigger impact than others. But, unless someone died as a result of one’s mistake, there is usually no need to throw a fit. They are, after all, unintentional. Mistakes are natural and contingent on the context.

SHELDEN WILLIAMS.....You are stuck in the ugly sister state of New York, New Jersey, waiting for the opportunity that left you once you were traded away from the center-depleted New York Knicks to Denver. The only thing you do have going for you in this horrible season where you average 3.2 ppg, 3.0 rebounds/game, and shooting a measly 27.3% from the field, is that you have Candace Parker  locked down.        Only a selected few each year are chosen to play and represent the name of being a U.S. Army All American. Some of the best NCAA and NFL players have played in this game and showcased their talents, so these players should feel proud, but humble at the same time. Every sport at any level, there are going to be egotistical players who think that they are above their peers, but Los TeBros were shocked to hear that quite a few of these All Americans were unhappy with something petty. 

Adrian Peterson & Reggie Bush were just two of many great players to play in this Bowl Game.

Let's start off by saying, Los TeBros knows that this article will spark some controversy, so we'd love to hear your arguments for or against our evaluation in the comment section below.

       This article will be a continuation to Vegi Wayne's What's Going on in Lob Angeles article. Los TeBros couldn't help, but notice negative article after negative article about Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant. Los TeBros would like to shed some light on Kobe's performance on the court while dealing with predicaments off the court.

       Currently, the Los Angeles Lakers are 1-2 after picking up their first win of the season after defeating the Utah Jazz in a convincing 96-71 fashion. On Christmas Day, the Lakers lost the first game of the season after Kobe turned the ball over and Chicago Bulls PG Derrick Rose hit the game winning shot with 4.8 seconds left. The second loss, the day after, was horrific for Lakers fans. The 100-91 loss to the Sacramento Kings sent most Lakers fans into panic mode.

The Start of the NBA Season

       The wait is almost over! Los TeBros have been waiting for this BROment since that late night decision to end the lockout was announced. After an entire offseason full of uncertainty, the 2011-2012 NBA season will begin tomorrow, Christmas Day, at 12:00 pm Eastern/9:00 am Pacific with a match-up between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks. Christmas Day will be filled with great basketball games: Miami Heat vs. Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls vs. Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magics vs. Oklahoma City Thunder & Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors. The Kansas City Chiefs, the Indianapolis Colts & Plaxico Burress

Fellow TeBros, these two teams accomplished things have yet to be done this season. The Chiefs beat the unbeaten and the Colts won to prevent from having the all-beaten season. The Chiefs did so under the new intermittent head coach Romeo Crennel. He said to the Packers, "Really Bro, you thought you could beat me?"

In the defeat, the Packers lost two of their O-linemen to injury, so the Chiefs may have done more damage than just ruining the "perfect" season.

Detroit Lions Calvin Johnson

       This week's Los TeBros BROment of the Week is as close to a bro a machine can be. This man has drive, determination and physicality of a man. His name is Calvin "Megatron" Johnson.

       Megatron went hard with 214 yds and 2 TDs, including the game winning touchdown with 39 seconds left. Of the 98 yards on the final drive to score, Johnson accounted for 75 receiving yards and an additional 17 yards on a pass interference call. Johnson's 214 yards is third most in Lions history. More importantly, all of this came against the team who passed up Calvin Johnson for Jamarcus Russell.

      Megatron is on a team poised to make the playoffs for the first time since 1999, but look like serious contenders for the next decade. The Raiders are wavering, still looking for consistency that they have lacked since their last Super Bowl appearance.

Pittsburgh Steelers

       Late in Monday Night's game the Steelers were down 20-3 and already injured two-time Super Bowl winning QB Ben Roethlisberger was still under center as they started the drive at their own 14 yard-line. Roethlisberger, who suffered a high ankle sprain the previous game, had a hard time walking/moving and even standing up on one leg, had no reason to remain in the game. Yes, the Steelers blew a HUGE opportunity to claim the top spot in the AFC North and top seed in the AFC in overall, but since Ben was taking hits all game and the Steelers offense wasn't moving against a stingy 49ers defense, Roethlisberger should have been pulled.

San Diego Chargers QB Phllip Rivers

       I'll start by saying "No," this is not about his performance for my fantasy football team. I'm pretty happy about the big night he had tonight (even though he was on my bench), but that's not the point. Also, this "Really, Bro?" isn't going to be like the previous ones. Instead, this one was a complete surprise to Los TeBros.

       Actually, on second thought, maybe it is relevant to a certain extent. It's pretty obvious that Phillip Rivers has not performed the way he usually has in previous seasons. His 4,015 passing yards and 23 touchdowns are still impressive, but when I've watched him earlier in the season it looked like there was something physiologically wrong with him. He's turned the ball over more through 14 games than he has in any of his previous seven seasons with a total of 22 turnovers (17 interceptions, 5 fumbles lost).

       What's wrong with him? Terrible offensive line? Injuries to his top targets? Defense placing too much pressure on his shoulders?
